NON-FAT

Session No. 2: No-Pudge-Fudge-dinner-paint-party-of-three cut short.

SOMEBODY TOLD ME THAT YOU'RE HAPPY...

Need a pick me up? Listen to some Disco House/Thrash/Pop:

Think About Life, please come to California. I want to have fun too.

"You get the feeling that they might not realize just how grand and epochal the blend they've stumbled onto really is: "Havin' My Baby" is something like Dear Science mashed up with The Avalanches' "Since I Left You", only played fast." - Pitchfork

----------

Session No. 1: Mint, munching, memories, mixing, and music with Tonya. It's been four years since I've done anything remotely substantial. Let the games begin, finally. Will be posting progress after each pass. Maybe.

Right now, I feel wonderful.

SO INSANE(LY GOOD)

I love the melting pot that is music. I'm going to go with the first Pitchfork prediction.

Discovery. (Also listen to Swing Tree.)

The Observer: "Giddily populist and slyly inventive in equal measure."
Prefix: "A joyous run through the tropes of contemporary R&B."
Pitchfork: "This could be your favorite or most-hated record of the year."
The Guardian: "Two American indie-rock gentlemen abandon guitars and try to prove their R&B chops over 30 ear-tearing minutes of handclaps, high-hats and inexpert synths."
Belfast Telegraph: "Appalling."

SCRIBBLE, SCRABBLE, RUFFLE TOP

Via coco+kelley.

I really think I need this. Really.

There's a lot of miscellaneity going on lately. Like realizing how many wonderfully strong and outstanding women I have in my life, and how it's now my turn to help them. How Fantasy Basketball is not really fantasy, and KB is not worth D.Wade unless I'm written a good offer. How saying music and the sun and rekindled friendships make me feel amazing, is an understatement. How wit is important, and often rare and misunderstood. I'm realizing the necessity of sleep and a bold cup of coffee. The power of addiction. The magic the trivia pocket in my head brings to conversation. That "some time in life" is one of my favorite things to say, but is only meant for those things that are special. I'm realizing that energy is infectious and is a brilliant way to heal people, even if only temporarily. But more importantly... most importantly, and naturally, I'm realizing how the simple and gentle act of brushing aside soft brown curls in the morning is the very best way to start the day.

IN A PERFECT WORLD

Today on MBE, DJ Shadow brought me back to a warm summer night two years ago @ the Bowl. Pizza Bella and Stellas while he battled Cut Chemist. At midnight.

HEART SKIPPED A BEAT

The xx.

They're young and talented and British.
Their voices will be singing me to sleep for the next month.
There they are, live on Jools Holland.

Thank you Magnus + Friendly Fires!

OVERWHELMED

...by the musical goodness of a four day affair. With amazing company, of course. It's the reason my left tonsil is inflamed. From laughing and dancing and singing and eating and drinking so hard. The perfect thing is, there are no photographs. Only fragmented memories of moments of magic. Like the clouds parting just in time for the sunset's gentle rays to kiss the profiles of the men that are Grizzly Bear and Beirut. Oh, and the insanity that are the technicolor kids from the day(s) before. Fernand Léger said:

The beautiful is everywhere.”
I agree. Completely.
